Love Part 2

1 Corinthians chapter 13 can seem like an impossible task. Who could be patient and kind and not keep a record of wrong and not boast about it either? But God never calls us to something we are not able to accomplish. If you are looking for the perfect embodiment of love, look no further than God himself. Today, Pastor Michael shows us that God is an example for us. He shows his patience for us countless times, but one colossal way was his suffering on the cross. Jesus endured because of love.

Love Part 1

A loud cymbal in a marching band can be unique. It helps keep the band in step and helps the significant moments of the song shine. But a clanging cymbal in your ear at 6 in the morning is just that: a clanging cymbal. Today, Pastor Michael teaches us the importance of love in our lives. If you ask your child to mow the lawn and they take a haphazard swipe at it, are you pleased? Are you satisfied if you order a whole meal and only receive the fries? Do you rejoice if you pay for a full hour of parking, but the meter runs out after a few minutes? When you receive less than expected, you are not amused. Still, too many Christians are under the impression that you must have specialized training to understand and preach the Word of God. If you have to compromise His sacrificial love to win a theological debate, you’ve missed the whole point. As Pastor Michael will illustrate in today’s message, unity is crucial in the Church. This doesn’t mean we’re all going to agree on everything. Our unity is in the belief that Jesus is the Son of God who became a man, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again, ascending to Heaven, where He’s preparing a place for those that believe in Him. It’s not that other matters aren’t necessary, but if we can unite around that truth, we can approach other matters with grace as we seek God together.

If you walk into many churches, you’ll find a crowd of people who all look similar. From clothing styles, skin color, and apparent economic status, we tend to be drawn toward what’s comfortable. Being around people who like the same things and come from similar backgrounds is easy. But, all too often, we miss God’s greater calling for the Church. In today’s message, Pastor Michael will challenge us to transform our churches into a place of healing for broken people.

Healing and Restoration Part 1

Often, people come into a church and walk out more wounded than when they entered. As Pastor Michael will exhort us in today’s message, that is not how it should be. The Church should be a place where people experience healing. God wants to save, redeem and restore, but if we’re making the hurt and broken feel unwelcome, we’re squandering the grace He’s given us. We can’t expect people to fix themselves before they appear in our sanctuary's doorway.
