1 Corinthians chapter 13 can seem like an impossible task. Who could be patient and kind and not keep a record of wrong and not boast about it either? But God never calls us to something we are not able to accomplish. If you are looking for the perfect embodiment of love, look no further than God himself. Today, Pastor Michael shows us that God is an example for us. He shows his patience for us countless times, but one colossal way was his suffering on the cross. Jesus endured because of love.

A loud cymbal in a marching band can be unique. It helps keep the band in step and helps the significant moments of the song shine. But a clanging cymbal in your ear at 6 in the morning is just that: a clanging cymbal. Today, Pastor Michael teaches us the importance of love in our lives. See, love takes that annoying, unwanted, clanging cymbal away from your bedside and puts it in a marching band. The cymbal didn't change, but love put it in the proper context where it can be adequately appreciated.

Have you ever been invited to someone's house for dinner and served their week-old leftovers? You would probably be less than impressed. They could have just given that food to their dog if they needed it eaten, right? There's an expectation that when you are someone's guest, a little more effort will be given. But God isn't just our weeknight dinner guest. Today Pastor Michael reminds us that he's the living God, the maker of heaven and earth! How could we serve him leftovers?

If you ask your child to mow the lawn and they take a haphazard swipe at it, are you pleased? Are you satisfied if you order a whole meal and only receive the fries? Do you rejoice if you pay for a full hour of parking, but the meter runs out after a few minutes? When you receive less than expected, you are not amused. Why would you think that God is pleased with less than he expects? Today Pastor Michael shows us that God's bar is incredibly high. He's looking for followers who are all in, all the time.

If you keep telling yourself that you’ll crawl out of your habitual sins and addictions soon, but you’re just not ready yet, beware: it only gets harder to escape. The good news is you don’t have to get yourself right before you come to God. You can’t. As Pastor Michael will encourage us in today’s message, don’t put it off another day. Preaching Directly From the Bible Part 1

Many seminaries and Bible institutes have good intentions at their core. Still, too many Christians are under the impression that you must have specialized training to understand and preach the Word of God. As Pastor Michael will explain in today’s message, every Christian is equipped and called to share the Gospel with people in this world. If you humbly share what He’s done in your life and share His Word in simple terms, that’s often more effective than the most rigid, in-depth apologetics.

It’s more important that you reflect the love and grace of Christ in your interactions than it is to prove you’re right. If you have to compromise His sacrificial love to win a theological debate, you’ve missed the whole point. As Pastor Michael continues his series detailing the heartbeat of Alpine Chapel, he’ll challenge us to practice unity with other believers even when we disagree on numerous minor issues. They're family if they agree on the truth of who Christ is and what He’s done.

As Pastor Michael will illustrate in today’s message, unity is crucial in the Church. This doesn’t mean we’re all going to agree on everything. Our unity is in the belief that Jesus is the Son of God who became a man, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again, ascending to Heaven, where He’s preparing a place for those that believe in Him. It’s not that other matters aren’t necessary, but if we can unite around that truth, we can approach other matters with grace as we seek God together.

Tuesday Nov 01, 2022
If you walk into many churches, you’ll find a crowd of people who all look similar. From clothing styles, skin color, and apparent economic status, we tend to be drawn toward what’s comfortable. Being around people who like the same things and come from similar backgrounds is easy. But, all too often, we miss God’s greater calling for the Church. In today’s message, Pastor Michael will challenge us to transform our churches into a place of healing for broken people.

Healing and Restoration Part 1

Often, people come into a church and walk out more wounded than when they entered. As Pastor Michael will exhort us in today’s message, that is not how it should be. The Church should be a place where people experience healing. God wants to save, redeem and restore, but if we’re making the hurt and broken feel unwelcome, we’re squandering the grace He’s given us. We can’t expect people to fix themselves before they appear in our sanctuary's doorway.
