Our name comes from two Scriptures: Luke 24:32 - They said to each other, ”Weren‘t our hearts burning within us while He was talking with us on the road and explaining Scriptures to us.” Jeremiah 20:9 - Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not. There are so many gods in our modern culture. Family, friends, careers, wealth, possessions, sports, power… the list could go on and on. As Pastor Michael will point out in today’s message, you won’t find generally find people bowing down in front of those things. But we worship in many different ways. When we dedicate large amounts of attention, time, and resources to things, that can be a form of worship. If it’s something you couldn’t give up for the sake of Christ, it’s an idol.
